Team South Africa has secured their spot in the semi-finals of the WBSC Africa Youth Baseball5 Championships after a day of intense competition at the Western Cape Sports School. Despite challenging matches against top contenders Ghana and Kenya, the home team showed resilience and determination, finishing third in the group standings.
In their first match of the day, South Africa faced group leaders Ghana. The game was a tight contest, with South Africa delivering strong defensive plays and calculated offensive moves. However, Ghana’s consistency and powerful offense ultimately handed South Africa a narrow 8–5 defeat. In the final match of the day, South Africa took on Kenya, who are ranked second in the standings. South Africa fought hard to stay in contention, but Kenya’s sharp plays resulted in a 10–6 loss for the hosts.
With a third-place finish on the log, South Africa now faces a rematch against Ghana in the first semi-final of the day. This clash promises to be a thrilling encounter as South Africa looks to turn the tables on the tournament leaders. In the second semi-final, Kenya will take on Tunisia, who finished fourth in the standings, to determine the other finalist.
