The much-anticipated start of the Senior Leg of the National Baseball Championships 2025 in Cape Town was unfortunately delayed today due to persistent rain across the city.
Throughout the morning, players, coaches, and supporters remained hopeful, checking weather updates by the hour. But as the rain continued to fall and field conditions remained unplayable, organisers were left with no choice. After careful deliberation, it was decided that all fixtures would be pushed forward by 24 hours to ensure the safety of players and preserve the quality of play.
The tournament will now officially begin on Wednesday, 9 April 2025, with the round robin schedule continuing as planned—just one day later than originally expected.
Importantly, Saturday, 12 April 2025 remains the official day for the finals, ensuring the competition wraps up on time with a full day of championship action.
While the delay is disappointing for everyone involved, the spirit among teams remains high. With six men’s teams and three women’s teams ready to compete, the stage is still set for a thrilling and memorable Senior NBC.
