South Africa’s U15 Baseball Team has been crowned WBSC Africa Champions after completing an undefeated run at the continental qualifiers held in Nairobi, Kenya.

On the final day of competition, South Africa produced two commanding performances to seal the title. In the morning fixture, they defeated Uganda 6–0 before closing the tournament with a dominant 20–1 victory over hosts Kenya. The results confirmed South Africa’s unbeaten record and their qualification as Africa’s representative to the WBSC U15 Baseball World Cup.
The three-day event featured four nations — South Africa, Uganda, South Sudan, and Kenya — competing for the continent’s single qualification spot. South Africa led from the opening day, combining disciplined defence, strong pitching, powerful batting and experienced coaching staff led by Head Coach Paul Van De Merwe to stay ahead throughout the tournament.
This victory secures South Africa the World Cup berth for Africa in 2026, marking another milestone achievement for the national programme and a proud moment for the country’s youth baseball pathway.

The Baseball Federation of Kenya was widely praised for hosting a well-organised event that provided a competitive platform for young athletes across Africa.
An ecstatic South African team celebrated the achievement after the final game, proud to have remained unbeaten and to have earned their ticket to the WBSC U15 Baseball World Cup. The team will take a short time to celebrate their success before returning to South Africa on Monday.
