Game day got underway on Tuesday for the South Africa Women’s U15 team at the National Friendship Stadium in Gayaza as the Rising Stars Friendly Series began against the host nation.
South Africa played two matches on the opening day. The morning game saw the team compete strongly but go down 8–4 as they settled into conditions and the pace of international play. In the afternoon fixture, South Africa showed improved execution and composure, edging Uganda 6–5 to secure their first win of the series and finish the day with a split result.
The opening day formed part of a demanding schedule, with the Rising Stars Friendly Series set to see South Africa and Uganda contest seven matches over four days. The format provides sustained match exposure and allows the South Africa Women’s U15 team to apply lessons quickly from game to game.
