The South African National Junior Baseball Championships is set to get underway in Boksburg, Gauteng, with the Boksburg Cardinals Baseball Club proudly hosting the opening phase of the 2026 national programme on behalf of Gauteng Baseball.
As the host province, Gauteng Baseball plays a central role in delivering this year’s championships, welcoming teams from across South Africa to a well-prepared and professionally run event. The Boksburg Cardinals have been hard at work in the build-up, ensuring the facility reflects the standard of a national championship.
Teams will arrive on 27 March, with competition running from 28 to 31 March in a round robin format, before finals day on 1 April. The championships will feature U10, U12, U15 and U18 divisions, providing a platform for the country’s top young players to compete and represent their provinces.
The youth structure continues to support both participation and progression, with U10 and U12 teams competing in mixed formats, U15 and U18 players competing in separate boys and girls divisions.
From a hosting perspective, the Boksburg Cardinals Baseball Club has ensured the venue is ready to welcome players and supporters. The club recently secured a paint sponsor and has completed a full repaint of the facility, giving the venue a clean and refreshed look ahead of the tournament. Combined with recent rainfall that has left the fields in excellent condition, the stage is set for quality baseball throughout the week.
Off the field, the club has created a full event experience. A daily market will run throughout the championships, featuring a range of vendors and food stalls, while live entertainment will add to the atmosphere at the venue.
Fans are encouraged to attend and support the next generation of talent, with vehicle entry set at R20 per car, making it accessible for the wider community..
