The South African National Men’s Baseball Championships came to a close in Boksburg, Gauteng, bringing an exciting and high-quality tournament to an end, with Cape Town A crowned national champions after a standout performance on the final day.
Finals day delivered exactly what was expected at this level, with intensity, quality baseball and a strong sense of occasion as teams battled for final positions. Cape Town A rose to the moment, producing a composed and clinical performance in the championship game to defeat Gauteng A 11–1 and secure the national title. Their ability to control the tempo of the game, execute consistently on both offence and defence, and capitalise on key moments set them apart on the day.
Leading into the final, Cape Town A had already shown their intent with a dominant 15–0 victory over Gauteng B, laying down a marker ahead of the title decider. Gauteng A, on the other hand, earned their place in the final after edging Cape Town B 6–5 in one of the tighter contests of the day, showing resilience and fighting spirit to secure their spot.
In the playoff for third place, Gauteng B put together a solid performance to secure third overall, while Cape Town B finished fourth after a competitive run through the tournament. Across all four teams, the final day reflected the growing depth and competitiveness of men’s baseball in South Africa.
