South African Baseball is thrilled to announce the groundbreaking news that the WBSC Africa Baseball5 Southern Region Championships and the upcoming Women’s baseball series against Zimbabwe will be broadcast live on Super Sport Schools.
These events are monumental for South African baseball, as the country hosts its first continental Baseball5 Youth Championships and first ever Women’s Baseball Series.
The Southern Africa Youth Baseball5 Championships will take place in Polokwane, Limpopo, from 9-11 August 2024. This competition will feature five nations: Botswana, Lesotho, South Africa, Zambia, and Zimbabwe with mix gender teams in action.
The South Africa versus Zimbabwe Women’s series is a three-game home and away series set to start at the Boksburg Baseball Club in Gauteng from 22-27 August 2024. This historic event will feature South Africa’s first ever Women’s Senior Baseball and Women U18 team’s in action. The away leg is set to take place in Zimbabwe later this year. Not only is this a first for South Africa but also the first in the history of Africa Baseball.
As South African Baseball keeps it’s eyes on the 2026 Youth Olympics in Dakar the live broadcast on Super Sport Schools marks a significant step forward for baseball in South Africa and across the African continent.
