South African Baseball is pleased to confirm its participation in a series of prestigious international tournaments and bilateral series scheduled to take place between July 2025 and early 2026. These engagements form part of the country’s continued commitment to high-performance development and international representation across all age categories and both genders.
The international calendar will commence with South Africa’s participation in the WBSC U12 Baseball World Cup, which will be held in Tainan City, Taiwan, from 25 July to 3 August 2025. This event marks a significant opportunity for South Africa’s youngest national players to compete against the world’s leading baseball nations in the U12 age category.
Following this, the WBSC U18 Baseball World Cup will take place in Okinawa and Nishizaki, Japan, from 5 to 14 September 2025. South Africa’s U18 squad will be aiming to deliver a competitive performance and further their development within one of baseball’s most elite international events.
South Africa has also been confirmed as a host nation for several key WBSC Africa Continental Championships. The U23 Men’s African Championship will be hosted in Johannesburg from 24 to 28 September 2025, bringing together the continent’s top emerging talent. Additionally, the Senior Men’s African Continental Championship is expected to be hosted in Cape Town, with the exact dates to be confirmed—tentatively scheduled for January or February 2026.
The national Senior Baseball5 team will travel to Lusaka, Zambia to participate in the WBSC Africa Baseball5 Championship, with the dates to be confirmed, most likely in November 2025. This event aligns with South Africa’s strategic focus on the growth and competitive development of Baseball5.
In December 2025, South Africa will participate in three additional WBSC Africa events. The U15 Boys’ Continental Championship will take place in Nairobi, Kenya, from 5 to 7 December 2025, followed by the Senior Women’s African Championship in Harare, Zimbabwe, from 11 to 14 December 2025.
In addition to these tournaments, two bilateral international series have been confirmed in collaboration with Zimbabwe. The Girls U15 International Series will be hosted in Johannesburg in December 2025, while the Girls U18 International Series will be held in Harare, Zimbabwe, during the same month. These series reflect a continued focus on developing women’s baseball and expanding competitive opportunities for female athletes across the African continent.
The South African Baseball Union extends its appreciation to WBSC Africa and its regional partners for their continued support and collaboration. These international events represent vital opportunities for our national teams to gain experience, showcase talent, and contribute to the advancement of baseball in South Africa and the broader African region.
