The South African Baseball Union (SABU) has officially announced the national U15 team that will represent the country at the African Qualifiers in Kenya this December. The tournament will serve as a crucial step for these young athletes as they aim to secure qualification and make their mark on the international stage.

A squad of 28 players has been named, which includes 20 travelling players and 8 non-travelling reserves. This balance ensures depth and continuity in the programme, while also rewarding a wider pool of young talent for their commitment to the Elite Training Squad (ETS) programme throughout the year.

From the Western Cape, the squad includes Caleb Abrahams, Troy Abrahams, Caleb Boniface, Connor Coetzee, Cameron Combrink, Sean Cupido, Kanan Downes, Andrew Moore, Zubair Moosa, Jamie Moran, Jayden Nicholls, Shiloh Petersen, Connor Pieters, Liam Rinquest, and Zeake Sellar.

The Gauteng contingent includes Joshua Cook, Caylum de Wet, Ethan Foley, Tshidiso Hlomuka, Tatum White, Rylee Greyvenstein, Riley Long, Logan Gardner, Mlungisi Malinga, and Adriaan van der Merwe.

From Limpopo, Lesiba Boroto earns his place in the  squad, while the Eastern Cape sees Ruan Oliphant and Schalk Willemse also included.

The coaching and management staff has also been confirmed. Paul van der Merwe will lead the side as Head Coach, supported by assistant coaches Gareth Long, Thabang Letsoalo, and Leon du Preez. The backroom staff is completed by physio and trainer Lukas McKenzie, with Deidre Marquard serving as Admin and Head of Delegation.

SABU Youth Baseball representative Desmond Speelman extended his best wishes to the team, noting that this campaign is not only about competing but also about growing the next generation of South African baseball stars.
