South African baseball gets behind the Boks

This weekend, South African baseball is showing its support for South African rugby as the Springboks participate in the Rugby World Cup and several clubs are organizing World Cup Rugby finals viewing venues for their members and fans.

Many might not know, but the current President of South African Rugby, Mr. Mark Alexander, is also a former President of South African Baseball. This week, SABU President, Mr. Marc Moreau, sent a personal message to our former leader, saying, “From one Marc to another Mark and one president to another president, we are aware of the years of hard work. Congratulations on uniting the nation with your success on and off the field. Please extend our very best wishes to the team and management as South African Baseball gets behind South African Rugby. They are an inspiration to us all. Go Bokke.”

As South African Baseball, we are also grateful for the support that many Springbok team players have given to our own national players. We’ve seen the likes of Damien de Allende regularly giving a thumbs-up to our national players on our social media pages.

This weekend, various clubs have a host of activities on the cards, including World Cup viewing venues, open days and fundraising for breast cancer awareness. VOB Baseball is hosting a fund raising with snacks and drinks to raise funds for breast cancer awareness,  Lansdowne Eagles puts and Old School Party in the evening  and SWG has an open day for young athletes, and you can watch the Springboks in the final of the #RugbyWorldCup2023 at the Bothasig Baseball Club, Boksburg Cardinals Baseball Club, and Helderberg Pirates Baseball Club as they roll out the big screens to watch the boks in action and get behind the team. #southafricanbaseball #findaclubnearyou
