South African Baseball is proud to announce the national coaches who will lead the South African Baseball U-15 team in the upcoming WBSC Baseball U-15 World Cup. The selected coaches are Clive Pretorius as Head Coach, Paul Van der Merwe, Thabang Letsoalo, and Gareth Long as Assistant Coaches, and Duwane Peters as Head of Delegation.
In addition to the national team coaches, South African Baseball has also announced the U-15 coaches for various provinces. For the Western Cape, the coaches are Daryn Smith as Pitching Coach, Kyle Titus, Lance Gordon, and Leon Du Preez. The Gauteng coaches are Bruce Foley and Brayden Bartel. Lwazi Mlondolozi and Daniel Coetzer will coach in the Eastern Cape, while Austin Mankga and Brian Leshokgohla will oversee Limpopo. Clifton Barnes has been appointed for the Free State.
The team of ETS players has been working tirelessly behind the scenes in various training camps across the country. This includes a recent weekend camp at the Bothasig Baseball Club in Cape Town. The next national training camp is scheduled for Cape Town from 16-17 June 2024.
Marc Moreau, President of South African Baseball, expressed his excitement and pride, saying, “We are very excited and proud of our players and congratulate our coaches. These positions come with great responsibility, but we know we are in good hands as they lead the players on their journey to Colombia.”
The World Baseball and Softball Confederation (WBSC) U-15 World Cup now enters its twentieth edition. The tournament is scheduled to take place from 16 – 25 August 2024, in Colombia.
