South Africa’s junior national baseball teams are now all actively engaged in preparation for their upcoming international commitments. The U12 and U18 squads have just returned from a highly productive joint training camp in Johannesburg, while the U15 programme officially commenced this week, bringing all three junior categories into full swing.
The recent U12 and U18 camp formed part of the final build-up to their respective WBSC World Cups taking place later this year. Both teams participated in intensive fieldwork sessions, tactical drills, and strategic planning under the leadership of national coaching staff. Players have now returned to their provinces, where they will continue structured training under the supervision of regional coaches.
This week also marked the launch of the national U15 training programme. Under the guidance of Head Coach Paul van der Merwe, regional sessions are now underway to prepare for the WBSC Africa U15 Continental Championship. These early phases of training focus on technical development and talent identification, laying the foundation for national team selection in the coming months.
With all junior teams now in preparation, South African Baseball enters a vital stage of development and international engagement. The South African Baseball Union thanks all coaches, provincial coordinators, and families for their ongoing support in preparing teams for the international stage.
