Day 4 of the South African Junior National Baseball Championships 2025 wrapped up in Cape Town with thrilling action across all divisions. Hosted at Lansdowne Eagles, VOB Macaws, and Battswood Baseball Club, the penultimate day delivered drama, standout performances, and crucial wins as teams jockeyed for position ahead of the final day on Sunday, 6 April.

In the U18 Boys Division, Western Cape A maintained their unbeaten run, finishing Day 4 with a perfect 6-0 record. Their consistent performance, especially on defence, has been impressive with only 15 runs allowed in six games. Gauteng A and Western Cape B both sit close behind on eight points, with Gauteng A boasting the highest runs for (78) in the division. Free State is yet to record a win but has shown commendable fighting spirit in each match.
The Girls Division saw Gauteng U18A continue their dominance with six straight wins and a phenomenal defensive record, conceding only seven runs across all games. Western Cape U18A and Gauteng U15A remain in contention with nine and eight points respectively. Meanwhile, Free State’s girls have struggled to secure a victory but have demonstrated growth throughout the tournament.

In the U15 Boys category, Western Cape A have emerged as the standout side, winning all nine of their matches. They have been clinical on offence with 131 runs and rock-solid on defence, allowing just 17 runs. Gauteng A trails in second place and remains the only team that could potentially disrupt Western Cape’s dominance. Gauteng B and Western Cape B are level on points and will battle it out for podium positions on the final day.
The U10 Boys standings remain wide open with five teams tied on two points, including Western Cape A, C, and Mandela Bay A, all of whom are undefeated but have played fewer matches. Gauteng B and Mandela Bay B are yet to find a win, but their games have been entertaining and competitive, often resulting in high-scoring encounters.
Sunday, 6 April promises to be a spectacular finale to the Junior NBC 2025. Titles will be decided, medals awarded, and young talent will get the chance to shine on the national stage. The vibe is electric across the Cape Town venues, and large crowds are expected to bring the noise, colour, and baseball fever as teams give their all in the final matchups.
All eyes now turn to Day 5, the championship decider, as South Africa’s next generation of baseball stars look to make their mark.
