The senior section of the South African National Baseball Championships 2025 is entering its final phase in Cape Town, where both provincial and district teams from across the country are competing in a week-long showcase of high-level baseball. Hosted across Lansdowne Eagles, VOB Macaws, and Battswood Baseball Club, the event has brought the national baseball community together at the foot of Table Mountain in a celebration of sporting excellence.

With two days of round robin competition completed, attention now shifts to Friday’s final group-stage fixtures. The results from these matches will determine the top-ranked teams advancing to the championship finals, scheduled for Saturday at Lansdowne Baseball Club.

In the men’s section, Cape Town A has been dominant. The team remains unbeaten, with comprehensive victories over Cape Town C, Cape Town B, Gauteng, and Mandela Bay. Their strong offensive and defensive displays have placed them at the top of the standings. Gauteng rebounded from early setbacks with wins against Limpopo and Mandela Bay, while Cape Town C registered a narrow 14–13 win over Cape Town B in one of the tournament’s most exciting contests to date. Diamonds 2 also had a strong showing on Day 2, securing back-to-back victories over Diamonds 1 and Cape Town Women.

On the women’s side, the competition remains wide open. Cape Town Women have earned important wins against Diamonds 1 and Diamonds 2, while Diamonds 2 responded with two victories of their own on Day 2, including a strong performance against Diamonds 1. With both teams still in contention, the next two days will be critical for women in baseball, as they compete for a place in Saturday’s final.

The host clubs have delivered an excellent tournament experience, blending quality facilities, enthusiastic local support, and a welcoming environment for visiting teams. The presence of both provincial and district teams has added to the depth and diversity of competition, reflecting the national reach and growing strength of South African baseball.

As the tournament approaches its conclusion, all eyes turn to Friday’s decisive fixtures and Saturday’s final at Lansdowne Baseball Club, where national titles will be contested and champions will be crowned.
