Rain suspends day three for South Africa U18 at the WBSC World Cup in Okinawa

Day 3 of the WBSC U18 Baseball World Cup brought South Africa under the lights for a night game against Korea in Okinawa. Heavy rain swept across the stadium and play was eventually suspended, leaving players and fans waiting for conditions to improve.

When the showers eased, the local organisers did their best to save the contest, even coming onto the field with sponges and equipment to try and soak up the water. Despite their efforts, it was simply too much, and the game could not continue. The suspension now means South Africa must wait for further announcements on the result and what it means for the group standings.

In the stands, the spirit of the South African supporters stood out once again. Families, parents, and fans who had travelled across the globe filled the seats with noise and colour, and when the cameras cut away from the rain-soaked diamond, they showed the players and supporters making the most of the time together.

Though the night ended without a final score, it was another reminder of the unity and resilience of this team and its backing. South Africa now turn their attention to the next challenge — facing the host nation Japan, with first pitch set for 11:30 South African time
