South African Baseball President end of year message

Dear South African Baseball Members

As we come to the close of an extraordinary year, I would like to take this opportunity, on behalf of South African Baseball, to sincerely thank everyone who has contributed to our continued growth and success.

To our provinces, districts, and clubs across the country, thank you for the commitment, structure, and countless hours you invest in developing the game at grassroots and competitive levels. Your work remains the backbone of baseball in South Africa.

I would also like to acknowledge and thank all our National Team athletes, boys and girls, who proudly represented South Africa across every age group in 2025 – from U12, U15, U18, and U23, through to our senior men and women’s teams, as well as our National Baseball5 Team. Your performances, discipline, and pride in wearing the green and gold continue to inspire the next generation.

A special word of appreciation goes to our coaches, Heads of Delegation, team managers, and all support staff who work tirelessly behind the scenes. Much of your contribution happens away from the spotlight, but it is vital to the success we continue to achieve as a federation.

We also want to extend our sincere thanks to our officials, scorers, and umpires. This year saw a major contribution from our officiating community, not only within South Africa but also through several cross-border engagements. These efforts played an important role in ensuring that the international events we participated in outside of South Africa were delivered to proper international standards and were legitimate and well governed.

This year truly delivered new heights for South African Baseball. From the Senior Men’s team’s historic participation at the World Baseball Classic in Taiwan – widely regarded as our best international tour to date and certainly the one with the greatest global exposure – to the end of the year, where our Women in Baseball teams competed in Zimbabwe and once again raised the flag for women’s baseball in South Africa. These moments reflect how far the game has progressed.

Most importantly, I want to thank our athletes and parents. Many of you have made significant personal sacrifices, often under challenging circumstances. Your time, dedication, and passion have not gone unnoticed, and South African Baseball is stronger because of your commitment.

2025 has been an amazing year, and we are confident that 2026 will be even better. We look forward to building on the strong foundation already laid, with more international opportunities than ever before and continued growth across all levels of the game.

To those celebrating Christmas, we wish you a blessed and peaceful festive season with your families and loved ones. We also remind everyone to stay safe on the roads and take time to rest and enjoy this period together.

Thank you once again for your continued support and belief in South African Baseball.

Warm regards,
Dr Marc Moreau
