Team South Africa end World Baseball Classic with flag flying high.

Today saw the curtain close for South Africa at the World Baseball Classic in Regensburg, Germany, with the host nation winning 11-5.

South Africa put in a valiant effort but in the end, it was Germany going through to the next round.

This has been a remarkable tour for South Africa having not played a test since Italy in 2019 after having missed out on their match against the French in the USA due to lockdown in 2020.

The tour has seen South African Baseball, the players and administrators gather all their resources to get South Africa back on the park and an opportunity to experience the international arena.

This international exposure and physical experience are vital for the success of South African Baseball, and factors like facing high-speed pitches face to face is critical.

Team South Africa will now depart Germany, with some players returning to their international destinations, but for all the mission to grow South African Baseball now continues and they look forward to again rubbing shoulders at their respective clubs.

The team is excited and united in the concept of helping club structures grow, encouraging more participation in baseball at all ages, and all looking forward to sharing their baseball knowledge and experience.
