South African Baseball has confirmed that the national Senior Women’s Baseball Team will participate in the 2026 PONY International Women’s Baseball World Series Championships to be held in Shanghai, China from 3 to 8 August 2026.
The prestigious international tournament will take place at Senlan Baseball Park in Shanghai and will be hosted by China PONY Baseball & Softball in partnership with the Shanghai Baseball & Softball Association. Teams from around the world will gather in China for what promises to be a high-level international competition for women’s baseball.
South Africa’s squad will report to the tournament on 3 August, with competition taking place throughout the week before the team departs China on 10 August following the official departure day on 9 August.
The opportunity provides the South African Women’s National Team with valuable international exposure as they continue to grow and develop on the global stage. Competing against international opposition will not only strengthen the team’s preparations for future international events but will also showcase the continued growth of women’s baseball in South Africa.
As with many national baseball tours, players and team management are required to contribute towards the costs associated with international travel, accommodation, meals and tournament participation. To assist in reducing these costs, the team has launched a fundraising campaign through BackaBuddy.
Baseball supporters, friends, family members and the broader sporting community are encouraged to support the team’s journey by making a contribution through the official BackaBuddy campaign. Every donation, no matter the size, will help ensure that South Africa’s top female baseball players can proudly represent the country in Shanghai.
Further details regarding the squad, coaching staff and fundraising initiatives will be announced in the coming weeks.
South African Baseball wishes the team every success as they prepare to represent the nation at the 2026 PONY International Women’s Baseball World Series Championships in Shanghai, China.
