Day 1 of the Women’s African Baseball Championships saw a strong and composed start from both South Africa’s Senior and U18 Women’s Teams as they opened their fixtures against Zimbabwe in Harare.
In the U18 matchup, Zimbabwe began with early momentum, but South Africa settled quickly and took control by the third frame. Consistent batting kept the runs flowing, and the SA U18s closed out the game with a solid 16–9 victory.
The Senior Women delivered another confident performance for South Africa. SA dominated from the start, with the pitching staff keeping Zimbabwe scoreless for the first few frames. In the final 30 minutes of play, a handful of unforced errors allowed Zimbabwe to bring in some runs, but South Africa remained firmly in control and secured a 22–7 win.
Off the field, the teams have settled in well, with arrangements running smoothly and Zimbabwe showing strong efforts to accommodate the delegation.
South Africa carries positive momentum into Day 2 of the Women’s African Baseball Championships as both teams look to build on their strong opening results.
