South African Baseball NBC 24: Heading to Juniors Play-offs

In the U18 boys division, the Western Cape Boys U18 A team confirmed their spot at the top after another victorious match, leading to a pristine record of five wins. Their robust point differential stands unchallenged as they head into the final round robin games. Following closely behind are the Gauteng Boys U18 A, who, despite their single loss to Western Cape A on Day 3 they still occupy the second spot on the log.

The Junior Women’s Baseball (Junior WIB) division has the Gauteng Girls U18 firmly in the lead. Their flawless win streak is supported by a formidable point differential. Their latest victory came at the expense of the OR Tambo Girls U15, positioning them as clear favorites for the playoffs.

Turning to the Under 10 boys category although an experiential division designed to give player opportunity, the Gauteng Boys U10 A dominates with a remarkable unbeaten record, including a  25-2 win against Cape Town Boys U10 B in their most recent game.

Under 12 boys are led by Sedibeng Boys U12, who have yet to concede a defeat. Their consistent performance throughout the tournament has placed them at the top of the log with a game in hand, followed by Western Cape U12 B. Sedibeng Coached by Vaal Dodgers David Lloyd has shown a remarkable presence at this years NBC and is testimony to the hard work put in by this relatively young team.

In the Under 15 boys division, the Western Cape Boys U15 A team have established themselves as the leaders, losing just one game. They showcased their dominance with a significant win, keeping their hopes high as they advance to the next stage.

As the championship proceeds to its final round robin games, the stage is set for intense matchups. The format, which will see the first-place team pitted against the fourth and second against third, is designed to ensure competitive play and a thrilling run-up to the finals.

Tuesday’s playoffs will determine which teams advance to the finals on 26 March 2024. It’s a critical juncture for all teams involved, particularly those on the cusp of qualification.
