The South African National Baseball Championships’ third day in Mandela Bay was a thrilling affair, setting the stage for the forthcoming playoffs and the eventual grand finals on Monday, 1 April 2024.

In the Women’s Division, Gauteng Women A narrowly edged out Cape Town Women with a score of 6-4. The Gauteng Women B team had a dominant performance against the Mandela Bay Women, securing a significant victory with a score of 17-1. Later, in an intra-provincial showdown, Gauteng Women A just squeezed past Gauteng Women B 7-6 in a gripping encounter.

Turning to the Men’s Division, the day was filled with dominant performances and tight games alike. The Cape Town Men A team shut out the Mandela Bay Men with a solid 10-0. The Limpopo Men, however, were overtaken by Gauteng Men B, who won 13-6. In another decisive match, Cape Town Mens U23 were outperformed by the strong Cape Town Men A team, with the final score standing at 14-1. The Cape Town Men B continued the winning streak for Cape Town with a sweeping 19-4 victory over Gauteng Men B. SWG Men faced a tough game, succumbing to the prowess of Gauteng Men A in a 21-1 match. The Cape Town Mens U23 endured another loss, this time 13-1 against a robust Cape Town Men B team. In a closer match, Gauteng Men B were narrowly defeated by Mandela Bay Men, with a final score of 5-4. Lastly, in a high-scoring game, Cape Town Men A showcased their offensive strength with an 18-3 win over Gauteng Men A, and Limpopo Men took a 6-3 loss to SWG Men.

Looking ahead to tomorrow’s fixtures, the Senior Division is poised for some intense matchups with Gauteng Men A facing Limpopo Men at 08H30 while Gauteng Men B will measure up against Cape Town Men A. The Women’s Division will see Mandela Bay Women against Cape Town Women early in the morning. As the day progresses, Mandela Bay Men will take on Cape Town Men B at 10H45, and SWG Men will compete against Cape Town Mens U23.
