The South African U18 Baseball 5 team this week returned from Ghana where they participated in the inaugural WBSC Youth Baseball5 African Championship. Despite strong competition, they reached the semifinals, showcasing their skills and determination.

The South African U18 team displayed exceptional teamwork and athleticism, securing a spot in the semifinals. They faced a tough Zambian side and although they put up a valiant effort, they narrowly missed out on a victory. Meanwhile, the home side Ghana emerged victorious in the final, defeating Tunisia with a 2-0 scoreline.
Both Ghana and Tunisia, as finalists of the African Championship, secured qualification for the inaugural Youth Baseball5 World Cup.
Participating in the championship provided valuable experience and exposure to high-level competition for the South African Baseball5 U18 team. This will contribute to the growth and development of baseball in South Africa inspiring more young athletes to embrace the sport.
