The South African Baseball Union (SABU) has officially announced the officials who will lead the national U23 team in the upcoming African Qualifiers, which will be held in Boksburg, Gauteng. The tournament will bring together some of the continent’s most talented young players as they compete for qualification and international ranking points.
The delegation will be headed by Lindi Leigh Erasmus from the Western Cape, who has been appointed as Head of Delegation (HOD). Supporting her in a key leadership role is Neil Adonis, also from the Western Cape, who will serve as Mentor for the squad.
The coaching team combines regional balance and technical expertise from across the country. Liall Mauritz (Western Cape) takes the helm as Head Coach, bringing his experience and leadership to the national setup. He will be assisted by Clive Pretorius (Gauteng), Braydon Bartle (Gauteng), Jono Viljoen (Eastern Cape), Theo Speelman (Western Cape), and Daniel Mokgehle (Limpopo), who joins the group as Developing Coach.
Dr. Marc Moreau, President of the South African Baseball Union, congratulated the appointed officials, saying:
“We are proud to see such a strong and diverse technical team representing South Africa at the U23 African Qualifiers. Their selection reflects our commitment to developing excellence across all provinces and building a pathway for future success. We wish them and the players all the best as they prepare to compete on home soil.”
The player roster for Team South Africa will be announced shortly, as preparations continue ahead of the U23 African Qualifiers in Boksburg.
