The South African Women’s Baseball Team is gearing up for the second leg of their historic home-and-away series this December. Following a successful debut series earlier this year, which saw South African Baseball launch its first-ever women’s U18 and Senior teams, the squad is now preparing to take on Zimbabwe on their home turf in Harare.
The initial series was a landmark event for South African Baseball, marking the first time women and girls in South Africa had the opportunity to compete in an international setting. The players, alongside their coaches and managers, rose to the occasion, with South Africa emerging victorious in both the U18 and Senior categories. This inaugural event also brought significant attention to women’s baseball, helping to elevate the sport and inspire a new generation of female players.
With Zimbabwe now hosting the series on home soil, the South African team will face new challenges in Harare. However, the squad is determined and ready to fly the flag high for South Africa, showcasing the strength and resilience that defined their performance in the first leg.
As with many amateur sports, baseball in South Africa is self-funded, and the team is currently working to raise the necessary funds to make this important tour possible. South African Baseball invites sponsors, supporters, and benefactors to contribute. Those interested in supporting the team can reach out via email at online@sabaseball.co.za. Additionally, donations of any amount can be made through the [BackaBuddy portal] to help the team on their journey.
This December, the South African Women’s Baseball Team is set to make waves once again, proudly representing the nation and advancing women’s baseball on the African continent.
