Western Cape Baseball youth ready for NBC 23

The Western Cape Baseball teams had reason to celebrate this weekend as they participated in their capping ceremony ahead of the South African National Championships in Gauteng, Boksburg. The event was held on the 26th of March 2023 at the Bellville Tigers Baseball Club and was attended by proud parents and excited players.

The capping ceremony marked the moment when each player receives their provincial colours, which they wear with pride during the championship. The players were capped in four categories: U10, U12, U15, and U18, girls and boys.

The event was presided over by Mr Dennis Philander, who spoke at length about the importance of teamwork and the positive impact that sports can have on young people’s lives. He encouraged the players to give their best during the championships, reminding them that they were representing not only themselves but also their province.

The capping ceremony was a moment of pride for the players and their families, who have been supporting them throughout their baseball journey. The players received their caps and proudly displayed their provincial colours, posing for photographs with their families and coaches.

The Western Cape teams will be facing tough competition when they compete against teams from across the country, with the championships starting on 1 April 2023 in Boksburg, Gauteng.
